Terms of Service
Last updated 18 August 2026
These terms are a plain-English agreement between you and the operator of Catalyst ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use Catalyst.
1. What Catalyst is
Catalyst is a research tool. It collects upcoming market events, scores their likely impact, and generates AI-assisted commentary alongside portfolio data you choose to import. It is information and tooling only.
Catalyst is not financial advice, not a personal recommendation, and not a regulated investment service. We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, and we are not your broker, adviser or fiduciary. Always do your own research — see the full disclaimer and legal & risk information.
Capital at risk. Capital at risk. The value of investments can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invest. Past performance, including the accuracy shown on our published record, is not a reliable indicator of future results. Holdings priced in a currency other than your own carry additional currency risk.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter into this agreement. Access is currently invite-only; invite codes are personal to you and must not be shared or resold.
You are responsible for your credentials and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think it has been used without your permission.
Catalyst is offered from the United Kingdom to users aged 18 or over. It is not directed at, and must not be relied on by, anyone in a jurisdiction where publishing this kind of investment research requires a licence we do not hold. You are responsible for checking that your use is lawful where you are.
3. Broker connections and imported data
If you connect a broker such as Trading212, you confirm you are authorised to do so and that the key you supply is read-only. We use it solely to read positions, prices and cash balances into your account. We never place trades, move money, or act on your behalf.
Imported data — including screenshots you upload — may be processed by AI models to extract holdings. Check the extracted values before saving; you remain responsible for the accuracy of your portfolio records.
Trading212 is an independent third party. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any broker, we receive no commission or payment for order flow, and connecting a broker is done under that broker's own terms with a read-only key you create and can revoke at any time.
4. AI output and accuracy
Scores, ratings, playbooks and position calls are generated from third-party market data and AI models. They can be incomplete, delayed, or simply wrong. Historical accuracy shown on the track record is not a prediction of future results.
Market data is provided by third parties and may be delayed. We don't warrant that any data, citation or link is accurate, complete or continuously available.
5. Price
Catalyst is free for the whole beta. We do not charge, take card details or operate any paid tier, so there is nothing to cancel and no consumer cancellation right arises. If we ever introduce paid plans we will tell existing accounts in advance, publish the price and cancellation terms before anyone can subscribe, and never charge for a period you have not agreed to.
The current position is always shown on the pricing page.
5a. Beta stage
- Catalyst is in invited beta. Features can change or be withdrawn without notice.
- Availability is not guaranteed and data feeds can fail or lag.
- Beta account and feature data may be reset or corrected as methods change. This never applies to published live calls or settled record outcomes: those are never re-graded, reset or deleted, and any correction is added as a dated note beside the original rather than replacing it.
- Feedback you send us may be used to improve the product without restriction or payment.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, resell, or redistribute data, scores or AI output from Catalyst;
- share your account, invite code or API keys with anyone else;
- attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to any part of the service;
- use Catalyst to break the law, manipulate markets, or misuse inside information;
- upload content you don't have the right to upload.
We may suspend or close accounts that breach these rules.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you upload — holdings, notes, screenshots and source links. You grant us a limited licence to store and process it purely to operate the service for you. You can export or delete your data from Settings at any time.
8. Our content
The Catalyst name, interface, scoring methodology and generated research are ours or our licensors'. You get a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use them inside the app for your own research.
9. Availability
Catalyst is provided "as is" and "as available". Features may change, data feeds may fail, and we may run maintenance without notice. We don't guarantee uninterrupted access.
10. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for investment losses, lost profits, missed opportunities, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Catalyst. Trading decisions are yours alone.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
11. Termination
You can stop using Catalyst and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the service; where we discontinue, we'll give you a chance to export your data.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes will be flagged in the app, and the "last updated" date above will change. Continuing to use Catalyst after an update means you accept it.
13. Governing law and complaints
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your home country and may bring proceedings there.
Complaints are handled by email through the support form. Because we are not an FCA-authorised firm, the Financial Ombudsman Service and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme do not cover this service.
If a court finds any clause unenforceable, the rest stays in force. These terms are between you and us only; nobody else can enforce them.
14. Contact
